Write and record the official song for the 2016 Alberta Winter Games
Medicine Hat, AB (July 31, 2015) – SMG Canada and the Canalta Centre are proud sponsors of the 2016 Alberta Winter Games taking place in Medicine Hat from February 13 – 16, 2016. As a part of the sponsorship, SMG Canada and the Canalta Centre are excited to announce the 2016 Alberta Winter Games Song Contest.
Local artists and musicians are invited to write a song that will be entered in a contest to become the official song of the 2016 Alberta Winter Games. The chosen artist will have the opportunity to record their song at Absynthe Studio in Medicine Hat and when the final production is complete, the song will be revealed at the opening ceremonies to a crowd of approximately 5,000 people at the Canalta Centre, Medicine Hat’s newest premiere entertainment venue.
“Music is a vital component to why the Canalta Centre was built,” says Peter Jelinski, general manager of the Canalta Centre. Hopefully one of the entries in this contest goes onto a sellout show at our venue.”
Approximately 2,800 athletes, coaches and technical officials come from all across Alberta to celebrate the games. Athletes ages 11 - 17, will compete in 22 different sporting events at various venues in Medicine Hat and Elkwater.
